Big Bash League
The Big Bash League (BBL) is an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket league, which was established in 2011 by Cricket Australia. The league replaced the previous competition, the Twenty20 Big Bash, and features eight city-based franchises instead of the six state teams which had participated previously. The BBL runs from December to February, with each team playing every other team twice in a home-and-away format, followed by semi-finals and a final.

The BBL has grown to become one of the most popular sports leagues in Australia, and is viewed by millions globally. It has played a significant role in promoting cricket, especially the Twenty20 format of the game, to a wider audience, including families and children. The league has also been instrumental in attracting high-profile international players to play in Australia, raising the standard and profile of domestic cricket in the country.

The BBL's importance also lies in its ability to provide a platform for emerging Australian cricketers to showcase their talents and potentially earn selection for the Australian national team. The league's focus on entertainment, including elements such as music and family-friendly activities, has made it a popular summer event in Australia. The BBL has also been a leader in cricket innovation, including the use of technology for decision-making and fan engagement.
