Despite the win over Leverkusen yesterday, it looks like that this year the Hamburger SV (the only remaining founding member of the Bundesliga) will be relegated for the first time.

The Bundesliga was founded 1963 containing 16 teams. Here is a list of the previous 15 teams and their first year of relegation:

- 1964 : 1.FC Saarbrücken & SC Preußen Münster
- 1965 : Hertha BSC
- 1968 : Karlsruher SC
- 1969 : 1. FC Nürnberg (as defending champion)
- 1970 : TSV 1860 München
- 1972 : Borussia Dortmund
- 1973 : Eintracht Braunschweig
- 1976 : VfB Stuttgart
- 1979 : Werder Bremen
- 1981 : FC Schalke 04
- 1982 : MSV Duisburg
- 1996 : Frankfurter Eintracht & 1.FC Kaiserslautern
- 1998 : 1.FC Köln

Think positive! The schedule doesn't look extremely harsh (except for the Bayern game).

Have faith Klaus.Massive game v Wolfsburg on Saturday,a victory and then a win for Schalke at Stuttgart on Sunday will change things.Hanover are capable of beating Stuttgart next week which would mean a win at Augsburg the next day would put Hamburg in a great position with both clubs still to play Bayern. :-)

Speaking of never-relegated teams in Europe, there are really only few of them left, mostly big names. The only smaller team on this list never relegated from the top-tier is... FC Utrecht, an Eredivisie club est. in 1970.

Bayern got promoted after 64/65 (together with Mönchengladbach). Both teams won all championships from 1968/69 until 1976/77.
