Ever thought team time trial is boring? Not anymore, Stage 1 of Vuelta in the beautiful and prestigeous area of Puerto Banus-Marbella (8km) will feature...beach cycling :)
Well...perhaps not beach per se but most of the stage will be held on sandy roads along the beach.
The teams and the riders are really surprised. They even call it 'ridiculous'. I understand according to marca.com there's now a good chance that Stage 1 times will not be counted in the general ranking...

And Nibali is sent home after stage 2. Lessens the race for GC. But I guess rules are rules.
