A few weeks ago I started programming a new version of this site. The main goal is to create a version which supports mobile devices as well as desktop browsers.

Some (less used) features will be dropped. Some players will hate the new version. The old version will still be available under a different address.

I don't know when the new version will be available, probably not before 2021. As soon as there is a usable version, the admins will have the opportunity to test and suggest improvements.

Possibly been discussed before?? Should predictions not be done only for 3rd/4th group positions now, and then the next round of predictions only be done once the draw is known. Your predictions now are based on the luck of the draw eg if RM and Barca are drawn then 1 is out, but I'm guessing if u pick now, u will have them both going further, and not be knocked out in round of 16.

The public Classic contest (and most of the 70 Private leagues) includes also a tournament prediction. In the past, some players missed to enter a tournament prediction and - as a result - lost the chance to win the public Classic contest. You should enter a tournament prediction until the beginning of the the first round #2 match (Russia vs. Slovakia - Wednesday, 15, 15:00 CET).

Starting with round #1 (Groups D, E & F) the Cup contest contains 10 rounds. As a result of this limitation there are only 1024 (= 2^10) Cup round spots available. The first 1024 players which enter a prediction for a match of round #1 (Groups D, E & F) will be added automatically to one of the remaining Cup spots.

Some information about my current programming on this site:

- The current databse API used on this site is deprecated and won't be available in 2-3 years. In order to keep the pages working in the future I started to replace the old API with a new one. The programming started a three month ago and will take a few month more. Hopefully there will be no problems on this site in the meantime. As a result the prediction game should be a little bit faster. With the new database API it will be possible to switch to a new server.

- I know that most of the internet traffic nowadays is requested by mobile devices. The current site lacks a reasonable customization for small screens. Rugby sevens is a very fast game with lots of running and very few technical interruptions. It lasts 14 minutes vs 80 minutes for rugby union matches. It is played in almost every country in the world!!! In Africa Kenya is No 2 and has beaten all top teams including the All Blacks before. You have regional strong teams like Japan, you have Canada and the USA as strong teams and one of the most underrated teams currently playing sevens is Portugal!.

Whilst very few of you may have whats sevens it is very very popular all over the world and now that it is an Olympic Sport I can foresee that it will not be long before it becomes one of the top 5/6 team sports at the Olympics!
